Drum Handlers

Oil drums are an effective way to handle liquids and lubricants. Manufactured from steel or plastic they are generally of a size to allow 210 litres of content. Some drums are manufactured to hold powder or heavy metals and by nature are of a heavier duty construction. Handling drums once they have been deposited by the fork lift truck can be challenging and this is where the Warrior range of drum handling equipment comes into play.

Drum handling equipment in our range can be divided into two categories.

The first category is the fork lift truck attachment type. Generally they are fork mounted via fork pockets. Warrior Automatic Drum clamps, which locate around the ribs of the drum, Warrior “parrot beak” Drum clamps, which pick up under the top lip of the drum and Warrior Drum Tipplers, which can invert drums for pouring or positioning.

The second category is the pedestrian operated type. These are generally mounted on wheels and castors which allow an operator to lift and transport over short distances and even tip for pouring in a production process.

Drum handlers allow for the movement of oil drums through various means; due to the shape of drums and the potential weight when full, manual manoeuvring can prove difficult and unsafe without mechanised assistance. Drum handlers provide this assistance; Warrior offers three main means of drum transportation: Porters, Stackers and forklift attachments.

Porters are an excellent way of moving drums cheaply and efficiently; the basic warrior drum porter is light weight, providing great mobility enabled by four tyres, with a lifting capacity of 250kg. The manual hydraulic operation provides efficient lifting by an individual operative through the hand operated pump. Variants include: Warrior Drum Porter Override, with greater ground clearance provided through a heightened straddle, allowing the porter to ride over pallets with up to an 800mm wide pallet, providing easy manoeuvring and lifting of drums situated at the rear of a pallet. Similar to the override, is the Warrior Drum Porter Straddle, but differing as this model is able to straddle 800mm pallets; opposed to riding over. The Porter Plus provides a greater lifting capacity, up to 450kg, also offering greater versatility, enabling the lifting of drums from corners even with bunded pallets.

Warrior provides a wide array of forklift drum handling attachments; such as barrel grabs, which allow a maximum of two barrels to be manoeuvred: simultaneously, safely and securely. Alternatives include: barrel clamps which provide greater security in the form of a more reliable holding technique; especially useful when moving barrels of hazardous substances. Variants of barrel transportation allow: for tipping of the barrels, dangerous loads to be safely dispensed, among other uses of disposal. Stackers facilitate the easy lifting and stacking of drums, through manually operated machinery; Warrior offers two main Stackers in the form of: the Tippling Stacker truck, with a capacity limit of 400kg of lift; allows for the lifting, rotation and discharge of drums from varied heights which are easily adjusted. Warrior also offers the vertical drum stacker, which enables an operator to attach and stack drums to a height of 1200mm simultaneously.
